May Archer at Monhegan
I believe that is "Golden Rod". She was built
at the Barbour Yard in Brewer in 1893. 75 ft long. She served
early in her career at Mt Desert Island (background). She ran
"around the hills" between Hancock Point and Southwest
Harbor under Captain W.M. C
rosby. She was later a fixture in
Castine under the ownership of the Coombs Brothers of Isleboro,
ME. They ran her, and loved her, for many many years.
She died on the beach at Castine in the mid 1930's--Nathan
Chapman Bros.
